Getting My First Tattoo

Where I live, there is no tattoo parlour so I need to either go home or travel home to get a tattoo. A couple of months ago, I went to Tamworth and received my first tattoo at Honey Ink.
Before booking the appointment, I drew the tattoo I want and where I wanted it for two months to see how I would like the tattoo being on my ankle for people to see. I used a black eyeliner drawing it. Here is an example.

I booked the appointment the day before because I was soo nervous about it as I got my first tattoo. After booking it, I watched 3 YouTube videos about what to bring, tattoo etiquitte and aftercare. I watched these from the Channels Qcknd, Nibbles Officials and TheStyleDogg. Go and check them out as their videos are very informative and are indepth as to why you need to do certain things when getting a tattoo.
The tattoo process was not that nerve raking as what I thought it would be as I assumed to be. The first contact with the needle was not that bad. Not that painful. It was a bit more of a pinch. But the lines kept getting them redone constantly which felt like someone kept putting a sharp nail into an open wound over and over again (I would imagine they feel the same way).

So here is when it was finished. I left the wrap on for a couple of hours because of travel and shopping afterwards. It wasn't too painful to walk on but too much weight on the ball of the foot put some pain in the tattoo.

After washing and unwrapping the tattoo on the first day. I really love the design and the lines may not be perfect but no one is perfect and the tattoo was done by an apprentice so I am okay with it being my first tattoo.
Aftercare: On the day of receiving the tattoo I was instructed to only wash once when I got home and let it air out of the end of the day. I washed it with Dettol hand soap (it was the only thing I had). Afterwards, I moisturised with Bepanthen cream usually used for nappy rash. After the first day, I washed it three times a day with Dettol and putting Bepanthen cream on afterwards. I put the cream on in between to keep the tattoo moisturised and clean.
Here is a comparason of the first 14 days of healing
I did miss a couple of days as it looked like nothing was changing until day 12! Overall the process of healing was a little annoying but a good process!
Just a note to people who do not like tattoos. This is my own skin and I feel happy seeing it on my ankle as it shows despite people telling me no, I persevered through it and made a decision to make me happy. I am a 20 year old - nearly 21 - I should have control over my body and what happens to it. I am happy with the choice I made. I am mainly happy that I moved away my fear of needles and got one!
On Friday, I will release my first book review! Stay tuned to see what it is!
Happy Inking,
Emily x
